Call Me by Your Name Book Cover
This personal project was an exercise in distilling the emotional core of a story into a single visual moment β€” reimagining the cover for AndrΓ© Aciman's Call Me by Your Name.
The novel's atmosphere β€” warmth, longing, Italian summer, stillness β€” is deeply sensory and emotional. The challenge was capturing that feeling through illustration and print design without being literal or relying on imagery from the film adaptation.
I created an illustrated cover in Photoshop, building a composition centered on a radiating heart/sun motif surrounded by expressive, gestural marks β€” musical notes, celestial elements, organic shapes. The palette leans into warm golds, blues, and greens to evoke the Mediterranean summer setting. The hand-lettered title reinforces the intimate, personal quality of the story.
The result is a cover that captures the novel's emotional atmosphere through color, movement, and symbolism rather than literal depiction β€” an interpretation that feels personal and expressive while still working as a functional book cover.
